Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer – Tauranga

The client is a progressive engineering firm located in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, serving the Bay of Plenty region. By joining their multidisciplinary team, employees gain exposure to civil, structural, and environmental disciplines, along with autonomy and opportunities for professional growth.

The team undertakes projects at the local, regional, and national levels, offering extensive geotechnical project experience. The position involves on-site investigations, preparing geotechnical reports for subdivision and building consent, conducting construction monitoring inspections, assessing land damage or slip repair work, and assisting with retaining wall designs—all aimed at delivering efficient service to clients.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Collaborate with the geotechnical team lead to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Perform technical analysis and design for major and specialist projects.
  • Prepare proposals and reports.
  • Conduct on-site investigations and reporting.
  • Support client relationship development and maintenance.

About the technical competencies required:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering
  • 3-5 years of geotechnical experience
  • Slope stability modelling e.g. Slide2.

In addition, while not essential, any of the following will be looked on favourably:

  • Consultancy background.
  • At least 2 years of local experience in Tauranga.
  • CPEng application for submission inside the next 2 years.
  • Gaining Category accreditation with TCC.

You will be:

You will have:

  • A full clean and current drivers license.
  • Ability to conduct geotechnical investigations, log soil and rock, perform in-situ tests, prepare reports, and inspect sites during construction.

  • Sociability.
