Our Client is a widely respected New Zealand owned multi-disciplinary engineering practice that has offices in Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga offering tailored consultancy services across 3 Waters, Geotechnical, Civil, Land Development and Environmental disciplines throughout New Zealand.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the team in the  Hamilton Office.

The Role:

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for the following:

·         Investigate, interpret and analyse geological processes, risks and ground conditions for land development projects.

·         Aid in planning and overview site investigations, option studies for foundations, retaining walls and piles, slope stability analysis, pavement design and geotechnical hazard studies.

·         Perform geotechnical analysis to assess construction site condition.

·         Plan and conduct geotechnical exploration.

·         Analyse geotechnical findings, perform appropriate calculations and prepare data reports to clients.

·         Develop proposals and determine cost and schedule for investigations.

·         Provide direction to technical team in field inspection activities.

·         Manage assigned geotechnical projects and take responsibility for deliver on time and within budget.

·         Evaluate team performance and determine training needs to meet performance objectives.

·         Develop design drawings and specifications for construction projects.

·         Review and approve geotechnical designs developed by outside consultants.

·         Review construction design proposals and approve geotechnical aspects.

·         Assist clients understand geotechnical risks with land development and mitigation measures early in the development process.

·         Develop solutions to a range of geotechnical engineering problems.

·         Aid with the design of geotechnical elements to support infrastructure and land development projects.

Qualification, Skills & Personal Attributes Required:

·         A degree based qualification in geotechnical engineering or a related profession

·          Current NZ Driver’s Licence

·         6+ years of experience in a wide range of geotechnical engineering projects.

·         A thorough understanding of local market, policies, regulations, and standards.

·         Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including oral and written communication and particularly the ability to present information in a way that is understandable by a range of audiences.

·         Ability to optimise and prioritise conflicting demands in a busy environment, to achieve deadlines and see responsibilities through to completion.

·         An awareness of the commercial needs of the business and the ability to guide work activities to achieve financial objectives at a project level.

·         Competent project management skills.

·         Proactive in identifying business opportunities.

·         Ability to work across disciplines and identify work for other groups.

·         Capacity to act as a mentor to others.

·         An ability to prioritise, manage workflows and work independently.

·         A sound knowledge of the technical aspects of geotechnical-engineering design and the practical limitations of construction techniques and tolerances
